Chairman – Mark Weber

“To organise and chair Committee meetings and the AGM; to be a contact and spokesperson for the club; to ensure that the functions of the club are delivered and that the officers of the Committee carry out their duties.”

I am currently in my second year as club chairman of the club having been a member for 10 years now. I love the role and love working with a lot of highly motivated and very capable people on the committee and the club as a whole.  Also great to see people joining the club and progressing so well.

During the last 10 years, I ran the club website for 7 years (yes a lot of it is my fault) before having a year off the committee, I organised the clubs 10K 3 times (2008 to 2010) before handing it over to Ravi. I have also ran the club championships since 2006 having a year off in 2012.

I also get involved with the Kent Grand Prix series doing the scoring spreadsheets (partly my own fault, I was always the one telling Rob Bright about any problems with them), this role brings me into contact with a lot of the key figures in other clubs.

Personal highlights of the last ten years are being club champion in 2005 a long time ago, also runner up in 2012 (which is also the biggest disappointment), and cycling from Lands’ End to John O’Groats last Summer with Dave and Ian which I still can’t believe I did.

Secretary- Carrie Hitchman

“To be responsible for governance issues including the notification of times and dates of all meetings to those required to attend; to prepare the agendas for Committee meetings and for the AGM; to ensure proceedings and decisions are recorded and distributed prior to the following meeting and to act as the main contact with England Athletics.”

Treasurer – Angie Holmes

“Club Treasurer: Responsible for the management of the club’s finances in accordance with the decisions of the club’s committee. To prepare and deliver the accounts at the monthly committee meeting and to the membership at the AGM.”

I joined the club in October 2014 after starting from scratch to complete my first 10k for charity in June of that year. I was hooked. What a sense of achievement crossing every finish line is, whatever the distance, whether alone or with friends! I love it and hope to challenge myself for many years to come!
The club has provided me with encouragement, support and a new group of fab friends so to give something back I’m counting the pennies and paying the bills 😁 so far so good!

Men’s Captain – Fred Streatfield

I have been with the club since 2008, managed to get to up to Marathon standard in less than a year thanks to the encouragement of other club members. For me running is all about the buzz you get having completed even a basic training run.  As one of the Group Leaders for the LarkRun Beginners/Intermediates Course I have completed the Leadership in Running Fitness course. It is really great to encourage and help others new to running.

Kit Secretary – Derek Way

“To source suppliers of club kit; to manage the club’s stock of kit so that members have access to appropriate items during the year; to advise the Committee on new designs and items as the need arises.”
