Following completion of the Leadership in Running Fitness course run by England Athletics, I act as one of the Group Leaders for the Larkrun Beginners and Intermediates Course. This course has provided the skills and insurance needed to deliver fun and safe sessions to multi-ability groups where advice and support if offered to both new runners, and those that already run but want to progress.

As one of the Group Leaders for the LarkRun Beginners/Intermediates Course I have also completed the Leadership in Running Fitness course. I also coach some Thursday evening speed sessions when Neil is away. I am hoping to complete my Coaching Assistant qualification later this year.

I have been coaching and advising for over 25 years, working my way up from the then basic coach course to the then Level 4 UK Endurance Coach. I was appointed the Kent Endurance Coach and as such have led days and sessions with Neil for Kent during the winter months. Neil and I have also taken some “flying coach ” days for Kent clubs and other running groups. I mainly coach and advise older athletes. My own coach, 20+ years ago Mike Gratton, 1983 London Marathon winner, helped me achieve two full senior GB Marathon vests.

I am a UK Athletics level 2 coach currently working towards a Coach in Running Fitness (CIRF) award. I coach the speed sessions on a Thursday evening and have done since I joined Larkfield AC in 2006. I have been involved in the Kent Squad Days, Kent Athlete Development & Education Programme (KADEP) and Coach & Athlete Development Days (CADD), assisting Janice Moorekite with the non-track endurance athletes in all three initiatives. I have also assisted Janice in Flying Coach visits, which are to assist their coaches in developing their club training.

Spencer Lee – Tri Coach

I joined Larkfield AC in 2007 as a complete novice and after running with the club for a couple of years I decided to venture into Triathlon, in the last few years I have taken part in dozens of Triathlons from super sprint to Ironman distance races.

In December 2012 I was elected Triathlon secretary for the club, which was a great turning point for me. I am very passionate about Triathlon and all associated with it, so much so that in 2013 I decided to enrol to become a level 2 BTF coach in Triathlon, in April 2014 I passed my final exams and am now a level 2 Coach.

I am happy to help any of our clubs members with anything they require and already coach various sessions through the week that all are welcome to join in.

I’ve been a member of the Larks since it started in 2001. I originally joined to train for 5k races such as the Race for Life and soon built up the courage and fitness to be able to increase the distance to marathons. To date, I have completed four marathons, where I am now fortunate enough to achieve a championship place for my previous times. I have also represented Kent for cross-country at regional and national level and Great Britain for age-group Duathlon. I also regularly take part in triathlons, but most importantly, I am very much involved in the social aspects of the club too! I am a UKA certified Leader in Running Fitness, so I often assist our coach Neil on our Thursday night training sessions.
